Demolition (Wring Group),
TR Services designed and assisted in the erection and installation
of support towers for the Greyfriars footbridge demolition,
in Rupert Street, Bristol.
Three
6.5 metre support towers, constructed using RMD
kwikform
equipment were constructed to provide support to the footbridge
during controlled demolition.
Due
to a 6 metre wide culvert underneath the road, channelling
the River Frome through Bristol city centre, loadings transmitted
from the bridge through each tower to the road were calculated
to ensure load distribution did not threaten the integrity
of the culvert or the road.
The
three RMD kwikform towers were erected at the Wring Group's
premises and then transported to Rupert street, where they
were installed and linked together underneath the bridge.
