A 4 storey tall, high street
bank wanted to update the look of their Bridgwater branch
by opening up the existing entrance to install a glass shop
front. This required opening up the existing 2.0metre wide
entrance to approximately 7.0metres.
In order to keep the bank open,
secure hoarding was installed for security measures which
made installation of the RMD propping less than straight forward.
Previous alterations to the
building meant that large steel beams installed to permit
internal openings had to propped as well, to allow the existing
brick piers to be removed to make way for the new opening.
Clever use of standard props
and strongboys integrated with the RMD Slimshor needling allowed
the existing opening's reinforced concrete lintel to be preserved.
Due to the close proximity
of the hoarding the pictures taken below do not do justice
to the size and complex installation of this challenging project.
